When I bought my Game Boy 8 years ago, my favorite game (unfortunatelly) was Pokemon. I couldn’t help not to play it, because it was freaking awesome to “raise” those little monster to beat my friends’ monsters. But after a few years, I was never into portable consoles. Maybe it was because I was too “busy” playing Ocarina of Time on the Nintendo 64 or Final Fantasy 8 on the PlayStation.

After I got a PlayStation 2 I didn’t even know what was portable consoles… Why ?! Let’s see: play Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater or some disgusting shooter wannabe ?! Play Final Fantasy XII or some disgusting RPG wannabe ?! Play God of War 2 or some disgusting action wannabe ?! I’m not favoring  the PS2 against the X-Box or the GameCube; but since I had it, I know some good games for it. I’m sure that both the Box and the Cube got some real good games as well, such as The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Cube or Halo 2 for the Box for example.

I got to admit that at first I bought my DS due to the difference of price compared to my country, but after I played some games I was amazed by how much the portables have evolved since the past 8 years. Take three games such as Mario Kart DS, Brain Age and Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings for example.

Mario Kart Ds: while I was on the bus on my way to school, this game made my morning feel longer. Why is that, you ask ?! Before I even got to the college I already beat the game and unlocked a secret character… how about that for a great start of a day, right ?

Brain Age: more known as the queue killer. Not only this games has many interesting mini-games, but it also comes with almost 100 Sudokus. Let’s just say that if I was at place where I know that I will spend more than 10 minutes waiting for something, for example my Starbucks, I am already solving a Sudoku… yep, I am THAT addicted to those.

Final Fantasy XII – Revenant Wings:  it’s not everyday when you get to play a sequel of a house console game on a portable, right ? Let’s see: Metal Gear Portable Ops, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, some Zelda titles and…. ??? I rest my case. For that alone, this title deserves to be mentioned. But how could we forget all the awesome battles and cool characters and secret stuff and…. you got my point, right ?!

I just want to call attention on the rasing quality of the portable games. Could you imagine some years into the future when we will be so lucky to play BioShock on a portable ?! I look forward for this day to come. 

Yup, that’s right. Everything that has a beginning has an end. So why we focus only when good things come to an end ?! I think that in someway humanity has always been ingrate when things are terminal. We tend to overlook when suffering ends giving a new beginning and a new perspective to life itself…

Without further due, I will try to stick with the purpose of this post and not let my mind wander too much (if possible). In about two weeks, I will return to my home country, and after six months here in America there were many things that I learned, especially the English language and for that I am very grateful. But above a language, I learned much more than to communicate with others, I learned about life, about human behavior and mainly about myself. Not to mention all the “academic” knowledge from the courses that I took at UCSD.

I discovered new taste for music, food and for friends. Found out more about some music genres that I did not know much about, countries and cultures that I had no idea either where they were located or what were their national food and discovered how curious I am about life, about learning about new cultures, new places, new people.

This experience will always be on my mind and I will use all that I learned here to make the best of my journey back to my “normal” life. I am afraid that I will not see most of the people that I met here never again in my life, but the memories that we had together will be more than enough to grant a special place for all of them on my mind.

After these six months, I have realized how big the world actually is and how insignificant we can be if we do not commit ourselves to a purpose, whatever it may be… For me ?! I think I found mine, but it is a little too early to be sure. But who knows ?! Maybe you will get to know what my purpose is. What about yours ?! Have you found one yet ?!

After a weekend in Las Vegas, I can clearly see the true power of money. No, I did not win (or even played) in the casinos, but maybe I gave more attention to details that most do not care about, or perhaps I think too much and have the craziness to think about stuff all the time.

Despite the fact that I did not go to the pool, I really liked my stay at the Hard Rock Hotel. There were many cool things that I liked, including the bedroom (and the bed), all the lasting memories of the world of music, the wall devoted to King Elvis, the numerous guitars on the walls and all the others attractions that I did not see due to my little “free time” when I wasn’t sleeping… seriously, I was not kidding about the awesomeness of the bed.

However, when I was walking on Las Vegas Blvd and seeing all the casinos and hotels, I couldn’t help but start to think about the amount of money required to build this town in the middle of the desert and supply it with everything needed to entertain so many people. From prostitutes, through magicians and Cirque-du-Soleil, this town really has it all ! It is not up to me to judge if this is a good or a bad thing, but I was impressed with the magnitude of some hotels, such as the Bellagio that draws so many peope to see its famous fountain. I cannot describe how does it feel to see water dancing according to the music; you can almost see people dancing instead of water flowing.

To conclude, Las Vegas in the evening is not the same as Las Vegas in the morning. The streets only come to life, when night comes and the whole city lights up. This town exists on the sole purpose to prove that, with unlimited money, mankind can reshape even the hazardous environment making it into an attraction alone, even better than any Cirque-du-Soleil performance.

When the time comes, which are you gonna be, a white dwarf or a supernova ?

In order to die, one must live. But how we live is the key to achieve a meaningful life and make our little time here count for something. Even though some might say that the purpose you search in life is awful and do not matter anything, you should not listen to them. Who are they to tell you what is or what is not important to you ?

When my time comes, I hope to become a supernova and pray to God my existence will influence others and entrust my best qualities among the ones I love and cherish. In order to improve this world to the next generations, I need to be the very best man that I can possibly become, and make sure that my children will surpass me and evolve into more valuable people for the humanity than I ever was…

This is the only way possible to fix the numerous problems that exist today: starvation, war, despair and many other bad things that look much worse than the Four Riders. The worst part is that we are doing these things to ourselves. We no longer require such entities as the “legendary” Four Riders of the Apocalypse to bring us an end. Not only we are extinguishing other people but the whole planet that we live on, as well the other creatures that live here.

I will do my best to become a Supernova and just hope that my burst have a meaning, not only light that faded away…

Damn… I’ve just finished watching the third episode of the second season of HEROES, and I gotta say: How do they manage to turn everything up at each episode ?! When you think that things are going down on one way and you already have some things on your mind about the things that are about to happen… WELL, GUESS WHAT ?! WE’RE NOT GOING THAT WAY! JUST SCREWING WITH YOU GUYS ! ! !

Even tough I hate to wait for next week for another episode I gotta admit that this season started really good. Congratulations to the writing staff of HEROES !!! You guys rock !!! Keep blowing our minds away, okay ?!

Well, I’m too tired to write anything else and since it has been a while since my last post, I think it’s okay to call it a day…

I LOVE PENGUINS !!! After this movie I had this conclusion and for sure there’s nothing to do with the fact that…

Don’t worry guys, I’m not going to ruin the movies with spoilers, but definetely it’s a good movie. Not only because a lot of girls appear without their shirts, but mainly because of Jessica Alba. This movie gotta be one of the best she’s ever been in and I saw Fantastic Four (1 and 2). I’ll give you that she as Invisible Woman is reaaaally good, but I loved her way in this movie, of course she’s sexy as it can get (ever saw Sin City ?!) but she’s got that something else that makes her extra-sexy either if it’s with her cunning sense of humor or how she managed to be so clumsy but in the end she can pull it off.

There was a part in the movie that I didn’t like, but I saw that part was needed to show how desperate someone can get when they fall in love for the first time and just don’t know how to deal with it. Wich brings to my next question:

Where are the college girls that look like Shannon Elizabeth (Nadia in the American Pie series) ?!

Anyway, my new homestay is pretty good so far. The entrance to my room is kinda hidden, so it’s pretty cool. My classes started but the first week it’s just registration stuff, therefore I’ll only meet my new classmates next Monday, but I’m pretty sure that my class is gonna be good…

And that’s not the only thing that’s gonna take place next week. You know what else ?! I WILL BE ABLE TO PRACTICE SPORTS AGAIN !!! YEAH !!! I’m so excited to get back to swimming, because there was already some undesirable belly “muscles” growing.
